MORE THAN A CHURCH

A Welcoming Church at the Heart of Bronzeville

We envision Beloved Community Christian Church to be a multi-cultural. inter-generational, family-focused, ever-expanding community of believers who serve God diligently, dynamically, and daily, by powerfully and boldly embracing and intentionally sharing the external and transformative truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ

MISSION STATEMENT

We magnify the glory of God by making disciples, by maturing each other through fellowship, worship, and bible study; by ministering to the felt needs of communities around the world and in our local church; and by multiplying our membership all in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord & Savior

About: Our Mission

THE JOURNEY

The Holy Spirit revealed to Rev. Bobby Rush his gift of the spirit that he would use to edify the body of Christ. This transcendent leader organized a bible study group of over 25 people who met every Saturday at the University of Illinois on 31st street in Chicago.

It soon became apparent that the time was right to have public worship services, so we formed an assembly of believers. The name of the body given to the Pastor by the Holy Spirit was Beloved Community Christian Church, Dr. King's metaphor for heaven on earth. This assembly of believers met for several weeks to create the vision and mission statements and secure a worship place.

We chose the Kershaw Elementary School auditorium as the location for public worship. After a couple of years at Kershaw, the church decided to purchase a church at 6430 S. Harvard.

Several years later, extreme weather caused irreparable damage to the building. The church found a temporary worship place at the Hope Presbyterian Church on 61st and Loomis St.

Later, the church was blessed with a temporary site at 352 E. 47th St, where services are currently held.

The Holy Spirit continues to reveal himself through this assembly of believers as we glorify God!

THE JOURNEY CONTINUES...
